#CS290 When Santa’s Way the Mice Will Play
Stitch count – 104 wide X 97 high
Finished size – 3 5/8″ x 3 3/8″
The mice are back! It amazes me that there are actually stitchers that are crazy about mice! One must have to admit they are cute, just not when they find their way into a pantry drawer! This little pair have taken up residence in Santa’s boot and have been busy decorating with holly twigs and mint candies. It looks like they may have found someone’s candy drawer!
When I was stitching this piece, I had saved the white portion of the boot until last. I make that sound as though I was saving the best for last, nope! I am not a fan of stitching large blocks of white stitches so I got lazy or brilliant….however you want to think and added fuzzy quilters cotton to the top of the boot! It saved me lots of time and stitches, and was thrilled with the result. Added just the right amount of texture and fuzziness to the finish.
I chose to do tiny work, stitching this over 1 on 28 count Lugana. The piece turned out tiny and precious, just right for a tree ornament. If over one isn’t your jam, the design is still small enough to do on 36 or 40 count and a small pincushion finish.
Even weave – 28 count, color – Mushroom Lugana by Zweigart (worked 1 over 1)
Flosses: DMC – 3777 GAST – 0180 Spring Grass. CC – Ribbon Red, Blushing Beauty, Snowball, Pebble Beach, Grasshopper, Hazelnut & Black Coffee
