Description

A Scottish sampler. The chart includes instructions, color legend,stitch diagrams and stitch count. The color legend includes DMC with a conversion to NPI. Since multiple skeins of several colors are used, a chart indicating how many skeins are needed. The model was stitched on 36 ct. Cornsilk by Weeks Dye Works using 2 strands of DMC. Stitches used include cross stitch over 2 and Algerian eye.

Jane completed her sampler in 1823. Although Ziegler is of German origin, Jane’s sampler has hallmarks of a Scottish sampler including predominately red & green and numerous family initials with crowns. Additionally, there has been a close connection between Germany and Scotland.
