The Hannah Gurney 1769 band sampler was created in Norwich, Norfolk, England. The antique is conserved onto sturdier fabric and de-accessioned by the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2017. She now resides in a private collection. Colors for our model were chosen from the front and when we were able to peek behind some holes in the linen, used what brighter colors we could see. There are bands of a variety stitches, stylized flower sprays, and a panoramic view of a delightful countryside. Miss Hannah Gurney was accomplished, performing an exceptional work of art.
