Harriet’s Make-Do Pyn Keep
with Beth Seal of Summer House Stitche Workes
August 2-4, 2019
I am super happy to welcome Beth Seal of Summer House Stitche Workes back to Sassy Jacks Stitchery! Beth brings us a wonderful finishing class for a beautiful “Make-Do Pyn Keep” based on an antique sampler in her collection by a young girl of the same name, Harriet.
Inspired by an exquisite early nineteenth century sampler, Harriet’s Make-Do Pyn Keep is a classic needlework piece featuring some fun, on-trend, and easy to complete finishing techniques. The pyn keep will be stitched on 32 count Straw linen from Weeks Dye Works with Gentle Art floss in soft, faded tones that mimic the original.
During Saturday’s class you will learn how to construct the pyn keep with wool from Weeks Dye Works and vintage buttons, paint and antique the wooden base and create the pendant that adorns the finished piece. Of course, there are a few other surprises in store for you as well and you can’t miss hearing Harriet’s story!
Friday night will be a fun meet and greet reception along with a great add-on class to accompany your beautiful pyn keep. The weekend will be fun filled and you’ll leave with some fully completed projects that you can use immediately, or gift to a special friend. AND you will leave us with some great finishing experience and ideas that you can use on your own work in the future. If you’ve ever sent anything to a finisher, you know that the wait can be pretty long, so having some confidence and skills to do this on your own is a super valuable trick to have in your stitchy bag.
You will LOVE this beautiful project and you will LOVE Beth! She is a wonderful teacher and her classes are both informative and fun. I am so looking forward to joining you on this adventure!
